Biggest new third-party launch for Xbox Game Pass 2025: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Sandfall Interactive’s debut role-playing game, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is the biggest new third-party launch on Xbox Game Pass in 2025, based on number of unique users in the first 30 days it was available. Sandfall Interactive creative director Guillaume Broche says Game Pass allowed them to reach a much wider audience. Set in a whimsical fantasia that belies dark secrets, the game follows the eponymous Expedition on a doomed mission to save their city from the mysterious Paintress, a godlike being that has obliterated the city’s eldest cohort every single year for decades following a cataclysm. If you haven’t yet joined the Expedition, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, handhelds (such as the new ROG Xbox Ally) and Xbox Cloud. Gears of War: Reloaded now available via PC Game Pass and more

Gears of War: Reloaded is now available via PC Game Pass, Xbox on PC, Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam and PlayStation 5. Gears of War first made its way onto the Xbox 360 two decades ago, and the release of Reloaded is just the start of how the studio plans to honor the milestone. “We really felt that bringing back the game that started it all – and bringing it to more players and more platforms than ever before – was the perfect way to kick off a celebration of 20 years of Gears,” says Mike Crump, Studio Head at The Coalition. Every aspect of the original game has been brought to modern standards – art, audio, cinematics, for instance – to deliver a new, enhanced experience. Over at Xbox Wire, editor Mike Nelson shares insights on the ways Ara: History Untold differentiates itself from other grand strategy games. “Elements like crafting, simultaneous turns and a diverse group of well-known and lesser-known historical figures are just some of the ways it stands apart,” he writes. “In a typical turn-based grand strategy game, players take turns sequentially – you can see what your opponent is planning and you’re given a chance to counter that move and vice versa. The difference for Ara is that it will process all those actions at once – this is what the team is referring to when talking about Simultaneous Turns; it’s simultaneously resolving every player’s turn at the same time.” The game launches Sept. 24 on Steam and Windows PC, and will be available day one with PC Game Pass.
