We’re excited to announce the expansion of our Surface Copilot+ PC portfolio for business customers. The new Surface Laptop 5G, 13.8-inch powered by Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors, will begin shipping Aug. 26, and the new Surface Laptop, 13-inch and Surface Pro, 12-inch are available starting today.[1] AI is every organization’s competitive edge—but only when it’s accessible the moment it’s needed. Surface Laptop 5G delivers that advantage with a 40+ trillion operations per second (TOPS) Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that powers fast, on-device intelligence, making everyday workflows more intuitive and efficient. Whether it’s staying focused in meetings, finding and acting on information faster, or reducing routine tasks, AI accelerates what matters most. With an integrated 5G modem, users stay continuously connected to Microsoft 365 Copilot[2] and other cloud tools, enabling deeper insights and real-time collaboration. Woman in a business suit walking outside, carrying her Surface Laptop.Adding 5G to Surface Laptop has been one of the most requested features from our business customers. But the ask was never just about adding a modem—it reflected a deeper need to eliminate friction, with the ability to connect instantly, securely and reliably without worrying about signal strength or searching for a hotspot. Meeting that need was the driving force behind the design of Surface Laptop 5G. We set out to build the best 5G-connected laptop—one where connectivity fades into the background. Whether you're a consultant joining a Teams call on a train, a field engineer uploading site data from the field or a sales leader finishing a proposal in a hotel lobby, Surface Laptop 5G keeps business moving wherever work happens. Surface Laptop 5G represents Microsoft’s end-to-end innovation in action. Hardware, software and cloud services come together to deliver intelligent, secure and connected experiences for today’s mobile workforce. The Surface for Business portfolio offers a complete solution for every user scenario, from tablet-first flexibility to high-performance laptops, all supported by Microsoft’s modern management and industry-leading security.

Engineered for seamless 5G performance

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKrqSSZqOqc Adding 5G to Surface Laptop required more than just dropping in a modem. Every layer of Surface Laptop 5G was reengineered to deliver a seamless, reliable and secure experience, while preserving the design, performance and portability our customers expect.

Dynamic antenna system

At the heart of Surface Laptop 5G is a dynamic antenna system that continuously adapts to its environment. With six strategically placed antennas, the device automatically adjusts signal paths and power based on how it’s being held or used, ensuring strong, reliable connectivity exactly when and where it’s needed.[4] As users move between environments, the device seamlessly transitions between 5G and Wi-Fi networks, keeping a steady and secure connection to cloud-based apps, updates, and corporate resources. This innovative antenna design also enables Surface Laptop 5G to act as a mobile hotspot, securely sharing its 5G connection with other devices when Wi-Fi isn’t available.[3]

Thoughtfully designed hardware

Many laptops place antennas near the base, where signals are more likely to be blocked by objects or the user’s legs. Surface Laptop 5G was designed differently, with antennas strategically positioned higher on the device to reduce interference and maintain a strong, reliable and consistent connection. This design required a new material, one that allows radio signals to pass through without impacting performance, while still delivering the durability, premium feel and lightness our customers are looking for. We developed a custom multi-layered laminate that meets all of these needs, enabling reliable 5G performance without compromising portability or design. Surface Laptop 5G also includes both NanoSIM and eSIM options, integrated to preserve its slim profile while enabling global connectivity.[4] Weighing under 3 pounds, it is light and easy to carry across campuses, through airports or from meeting to meeting.

Tested for the real world

In Surface we don’t just simulate real-world use, we build for it. Surface Laptop 5G was tested in homes, apartments and active office environments replicating everyday scenarios. Moving between rooms, switching networks, multitasking and working from laps helped us fine-tune antenna placement, thermal performance and connectivity behavior to reflect how people actually work. To ensure global performance, the 5G hardware was field-tested with over 100 mobile operators across more than 50 countries. The result is reliable 5G connectivity that travels with your workforce around the world.[5]

Secure and connected for smarter management

With support for 5G built-in, Surface Laptop devices stay continuously connected, enabling IT to deliver security updates, enforce policies and access real-time insights, from almost anywhere. This integration is possible because Surface is engineered in partnership with Windows and Intune, combining hardware, software and cloud-based management into a unified Microsoft solution. IT can remotely deploy and manage eSIM profiles, allowing cellular connectivity to be preconfigured and pushed to enrolled Surface devices.6 Paired with Windows Autopilot, it enables a true zero-touch deployment experience where devices arrive fully configured, secured and ready to use. The Surface Management Portal within the Intune Admin Center provides centralized visibility into device health, compliance and usage across the Surface fleet. Now with Security Copilot integrated, IT can act faster with AI-powered tools to detect issues, assess risk and respond with greater confidence. For an extra layer of protection, the PanzerGlass Privacy Screen Protector helps safeguard on-screen information and can reduce the risk of visual data exposure when working in public spaces.[6] Surface is where Microsoft’s hardware, software and cloud come together to deliver an experience that’s easy to manage, safe to deploy and ready for AI from day one.

A connected future, built for business

Surface offers powerful protection that safeguards your data and privacy while enabling your employees to achieve more. Surface Laptop 5G joins a growing portfolio of Copilot+ PCs designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s workforce. With the Surface Pro for Business, 12-inch and Surface Laptop for Business, 13-inch now shipping, and Surface Laptop 5G arriving on Aug. 26, organizations have more choice than ever to modernize their device fleets with powerful, secure and AI-ready tools. When paired with Verizon's secure, reliable 5G network, Surface devices unlock even greater productivity. Secure by design and by default

Hand reaching out to laptopIn line with Microsoft’s Secure Future Initiative, security is our top priority. As Secured-core PCs, the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are designed to be secure by default. Windows 11 Pro, our most secure operating system yet, protects against phishing, malware, ransomware and other threats with advanced security tools and technologies. With Windows Hello for Business, organizations can better protect against credential theft using advanced authentication safeguards — providing better peace of mind. The new Surface Laptop comes equipped with a fingerprint reader, while the new Surface Pro uses facial recognition with the built-in Windows Hello Camera. Beyond Windows, every layer of a Surface device, from chip to cloud, is maintained and protected by Microsoft, providing customers with ultimate control, proactive protection and peace of mind. This commitment to security, privacy and responsible device design is resonating with customers. According to survey respondents, Microsoft Surface, despite the small customer base represented in this survey, showed customer-perceived strength in security, privacy and ESG, taking the highest score within each of these categories of the IDC Enterprise PC Trust Perception Index, 2025.[x] Copilot+ PCs feature the Microsoft Pluton security processor, a chip-to-cloud technology embedded directly into the CPU, ensuring Zero Trust principles at the core. Pluton protects sensitive information like passwords, user identities and encryption keys, acting as a secure vault within the computer. Pluton receives regular updates directly from Microsoft, ensuring it always has the latest security features and protections against evolving threats.

Unlock efficiency with AI experiences

https://youtu.be/QLqgWZtHFEA The new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are Copilot+ PCs designed to help teams work faster and smarter. With features including Copilot on Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 Copilot, these devices help your team quickly uncover solutions, summarize long documents, find relevant information and visualize data efficiently. One of the biggest challenges organizations face today is productivity lost due to the time spent searching for files, content and settings. The newly improved Windows search uses semantic indexing and local AI compute, so you can simply type what you’re looking for in your own words across files, photos and settings[xi]. This allows you to find and relocate images with ease — up to 70% faster compared to traditional search on a Windows 10 PC[xii]. For example, users can find images by typing “factory floor,” locate documents by describing their content like “Team budget” or adjust settings by asking to “fix your speakers.” This capability helps organizations reclaim valuable time and can reduce the number of help-desk tickets that IT departments need to manage.

Easier to manage

Hand holding a phoneOur commitment to IT professionals goes beyond performance and security — we’re focused on making device management simpler, more intuitive and more efficient from the start. Both the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro now feature QR codes etched directly onto the device, making it easy for IT teams to scan and retrieve serial numbers at a glance. No more manually entering long codes or struggling to read tiny print — just a quick scan for faster, more accurate asset management. That same focus on simplicity extends to the Surface Management Portal in Microsoft Intune. Built to give IT teams detailed visibility into their Surface fleet, the portal enables proactive monitoring, streamlined updates and issue resolution before problems escalate. And now, with Security Copilot integrated into Surface Management Portal — available today in public preview — IT pros can ask Copilot to generate reports, uncover insights and get the information they need in seconds. It’s another example of how we’re designing Surface to save IT teams’ time and make managing devices easier at scale.

Embracing sustainability

View of a person working on a tablet deviceIn 2020, Microsoft committed to becoming carbon negative, water positive and zero waste by 2030. The new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro represent significant steps forward in this journey, as they are built with a focus on waste reduction and device repairability. Both the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are designed with sustainability in mind, featuring 100% recycled cobalt in their battery cells[xiii], reinforcing Microsoft's sustainable sourcing efforts to conserve rare materials. These devices are built for high performance and energy efficiency — exceeding industry standards. Surface Pro performs 48% better than the ENERGY STAR efficiency baseline, while Surface Laptop goes even further, outperforming it by 62%.[xiv] Additionally, these devices are designed with circularity in mind to reduce e-waste. Almost all components are designed to be easily replaced by skilled technicians or authorized service providers[xv], ensuring that the devices can be maintained and repaired efficiently.

Inclusive by design

KeyboardAt Surface, we believe that every employee deserves to work comfortably. That's why we design inclusive features on every device. Surface Copilot+ PCs combine software and hardware experiences, empowering users to personalize their devices while enabling IT admins to create customized solutions for each employee. For instance, the adaptive touch mode on the Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard and the new Surface Laptop 13-inch touchpad allows users with varying mobility and dexterity levels to personalize their touchpad settings to better suit their individual needs. The new Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard also features an optional bold keyset with larger font, higher contrast and backlighting, making the keys easier to see.[xvi] We also work with developers to unlock new ways for people to interact with their PC that matches their unique needs. For example, Cephable[xvii] is a powerful application that taps into the NPU on Copilot+ PCs and uses local AI processing to enable control through voice, head motions and expressions using the Studio Cameras, and Studio Microphones on the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro.

Secure by design and by default

Laptop device with illustrated layers of security represented In line with Microsoft’s Secure Future Initiative commitment, security is our top priority, and we’re intently focused on designing our products to be secure by design and by default. We continually raise the bar to deliver robust defense against the evolving threat landscape for both our customers and the entire Windows ecosystem. Windows 11, our most secure operating system yet, dramatically reduces exposure to attack by enabling advanced security tools and technologies by design and by default. This protects against phishing, malware, ransomware and other evolving threats. Beyond Windows, every layer of a Surface device, from the hardware to the cloud is maintained and protected by Microsoft. This gives customers ultimate control, proactive protection and peace of mind wherever and however they work. Our team constantly thinks about how malicious actors could threaten your business and seamlessly ensures you always have the latest through Windows Update, ensuring you and your teams remain protected and secure. Copilot+ PCs are the most secure Windows PCs ever, with the Microsoft Pluton security processor enabled by default on all Copilot+ PCs. Pluton, a chip-to-cloud security technology designed by Microsoft and embedded by silicon partners directly into the CPU, ensures Zero Trust principles at the core. These great new Surface Copilot+ PCs are part of an expanding ecosystem of Windows commercial solutions that serve every job, in every organization. We’re listening to our customers and providing them with more choice so that they can find a Copilot+ PC that fits every need. At Ignite, we introduced several AI features that enhance workflows, and boost communication and collaboration by tapping into the NPU on Copilot+ PCs. One of these new experiences is the new and improved Windows Search experience[xvi]. It allows users to find files using associated words and phrases, without needing to remember exact file names or content for both local and active OneDrive for Business files. For example, users can find a document about sustainability by searching for “green presentation.” They can also search images based on their content, including text found in an image. Removing the need for precise keyword matching in file names or content can save valuable time, enabling users to intuitively search for files, information or settings in the ways that they can easily remember. Windows, combined with Microsoft 365 and Surface devices, provides a powerful platform for businesses to securely boost productivity, simplify workflows and enhance collaboration. With tools like Windows Autopatch, Autopilot in Intune, and Windows Backup and Hotpatch, deploying and managing these new PCs securely has never been easier.

New Security Copilot in Surface Management Portal (Preview)

Available in public preview starting Feb. 24, 2025 https://youtu.be/2WvJXDNxBbU Streamline the management of Surface devices within your organization with the Surface Management Portal in Microsoft Intune. This powerful tool provides IT admins with a centralized platform to monitor, manage and secure all Surface devices, ensuring they are always up-to-date and performing optimally. Capabilities like device health monitoring, warranty and servicing management help businesses maintain a secure and efficient IT environment, reducing downtime and enhancing productivity of their employees. We are excited to share that later this month, customers will have access to Security Copilot in the Surface Management Portal. Copilot provides the power of generative AI in Intune to simplify and enhance the device management experience for IT admins. With Copilot, IT admins can quickly search for and resolve specific device issues, summarize warranty information, and access support tickets and service orders related to their organization’s Surface devices. This reduces the time and effort needed for routine maintenance tasks, creating more time to focus on other initiatives. In addition, Copilot pulls contextually relevant data from your Intune-enrolled Surface devices along with public information into a single view, streamlining the management process and enhancing overall efficiency. We've been in private preview with a select group of customers, allowing us to gather critical feedback and insights that have shaped the current experience. Starting Feb. 24, customers can join the public preview, and the insights and learnings we’ll gain can help us shape the future of the Surface Management Portal. Advances in accessibility, sustainability, security and modern tools for IT

To enhance these new devices, there are advances in accessibility, sustainability, security and IT tools that will help our customers further secure their critical data and manage their devices over their life cycle, and empower all their employees with more accessible technology.

Enterprise ready security and management

Photo of a Surface device overlaid with labels representing the cloud, OS, firmware and hardware layers of security The Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors in Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are built on Arm64 architecture and we’ve worked across the Windows ecosystem to bring you the latest in security and manageability to help deploy and manage these devices with ease.   Many organizations rely on traditional OS deployment methods and recently we released an update to Microsoft Configuration Manager to enable customers to build custom images for Arm64 devices. And just like the rest of the Surface portfolio, the latest firmware and drivers for Surface Laptop and Surface Pro will be made available to facilitate this.   Core to our chip-to-cloud security built into our Surface for Business devices is the ability to configure and manage components of the device down to the firmware level. With the general availability of the Surface IT Toolkit, UEFI Configurator is now fully supported on both Arm64 and x86 devices enabling control of components like the cameras and speakers, along with granular control over USB-C ports.   We’ve invested in our developer ecosystem to ensure that your teams have a seamless experience running native and emulated apps on Windows on Arm. We’ve expanded tooling and support to help developers have their apps run natively and we expect nearly 90% of total app minutes to be spent on native apps like Google Chrome and VMware Horizon Clientxiii. For emulated apps, we’re introducing our new emulation engine Prism. With Prism, both the new Surface Laptop and new Surface Pro are designed to run emulated applications with faster performance than native applications on Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9. On top of this, Microsoft continues to invest in Arm and app compatibility with continued outreach to hundreds of ISVs and through the App Assure program that provides developer resources to business customers to remediate app compatibility on Arm at no costxiv.  Developed to run natively on Arm64, the new Surface IT Toolkit is a modern desktop application that compiles essential commercial tools and gives IT more support and control of their Surface devices. Customers realize more value with their investment in Surface with tools such as Data Eraser as well as UEFI Configurator for managing Surface Enterprise Management Mode. See the latest blog for more details.  Just like the rest of the Surface portfolio, once Surface Laptop and Pro are deployed and enrolled in Microsoft Intune, the Surface Management Portalvi is automatically populated. This empowers customers to have more control over their Surface devices by providing end-to-end visibility and insights into compliance, warranty and even estimations of carbon emissions all within Intune. Surface Management Portal further reduces complexity by providing a single portal to submit support and repair requests, links to important tools including the Surface IT Toolkit, and new APIs for connectivity into third party support tools. Surface Pro Flex Keyboard Accessibility is core to Surface design and to Microsoft’s mission to enable every person and every organization to achieve more. Both Surface Pro Flex Keyboard and Surface Laptop are built with a Precision Haptic touchpad, which allows your teams to use the touchpad with different parts of their limbs, such as their palm, foot, edges of the hand and residual limbs. The software and haptic motors create realistic feedback when tapped or clicked, providing precise mouse control with imprecise contact and can be easily customized within the Surface app. Surface Pro Flex Keyboard also allows you to work more comfortably by positioning your keyboard separately from your device, wherever it feels more natural. Additionally, both Surface Pro Flex Keyboard and Surface Pro Keyboard have an optional bold keysetxv which have been designed with a bold font change and brighter backlighting, making the keys easier to read and reducing eye strain for everyone.  Both devices work with the Surface Adaptive Kitvi and Microsoft Adaptive Accessoriesvi, enabling users to personalize their experience to meet their specific needs.

Sustainability

Inside view of a Surface computer In 2020, Microsoft set a goal to become carbon negative, water positive and zero waste by 2030. This goal means that we are constantly working to advance the sustainability of our products, and we know that many of our customers are also pursuing their own ambitious sustainability goals. We prioritized the use of recycled materials when designing Surface Laptop and Surface Pro. Surface Laptop contains more recycled materials than any other Surface devicexvi and the Surface Pro enclosure is made with a minimum of 72% recycled contentxvii.  On top of this, both Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are serviceable by designxviii with replaceable components that can help increase your return on investment and can offer significant carbon emissions and waste reduction benefitsxix. They are easier to repair with clear icons that identify the number of screws and driver types needed for key components along with a built-in QR code that provides convenient access to instructions.

AI-powered PCs built for a new era of work We are excited to announce the first Surface AI PCs built exclusively for business: Surface Pro 10 for Business and Surface Laptop 6 for Business. These new PCs represent a major step forward in customer-focused design and are packed with features that business customers have been requesting – from amazing performance and battery life to more ports, better security and custom, durable anti-reflective displays. These are the first Surface PCs optimized for AI, with the new Copilot key being added to Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro keyboards that accelerate access to the best Windows AI experiences1. In addition to the new Surface for Business products, we are pleased to announce the Microsoft Adaptive Accessories will now be available to commercial customers. https://youtu.be/UeKQkKvVU5c These new PCs are powered by the latest Intel® Core™ Ultra processors. We partnered with Intel to deliver the power and reliable performance our customers depend on, along with compelling AI experiences for Surface and the Windows ecosystem. Surface has also been leading in Neural Processing Unit (NPU) integration to drive AI experiences on the PC since 2019, and the benefits of these connected efforts are evident. From a performance perspective, Surface Laptop 6 is 2x faster than Laptop 52, and Surface Pro 10 is up to 53% faster than Pro 9. The benefits of the NPU integration include AI features like Windows Studio Effects and Live Captions3 and the opportunity for businesses and developers to build their own AI apps and experiences.

Meet Surface Pro 10 for Business

[caption id="attachment_263444" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Surface Pro 10 for Business Surface Pro 10 for Business[/caption] Surface Pro 10 for Business is designed for teams that need a no-compromise device. It is our most powerful Surface Pro ever powered by Intel Core Ultra processors, and the first time we’re bringing 5G4 to the Intel platform. It brings a new level of productivity and versatility – whether used as a powerful tablet for frontline workers out in the field, a versatile laptop in the conference room, or anywhere in between – Surface Pro 10 adapts to our customers’ needs and to how they use technology. With the power of AI assistance from Microsoft Copilot and the innovation in Windows 11 Pro, Surface Pro 10 unlocks the ability to be more productive than ever before. We’ve added the Copilot key to all of our new Surface Pro keyboards, including a new version with a bold keyset5 with a larger font, high contrast and backlighting that make the keys more visible and easier for everyone to type. But our customers don’t choose Surface Pro to interact with it using only the keyboard. They’re choosing Surface Pro to use with touch gestures, voice commands and even with handwritten prompts with Surface Slim Pen. With Surface Pro, they are able to use all these natural input methods to make it even easier to use Copilot. And in Microsoft 365 apps like OneNote, Copilot will be able to use AI to analyze handwritten notes, saving time and keeping them in their flow. This device comes with the best display we’ve ever shipped on a Surface Pro. Whether working under fluorescent office lighting or outside in the field, the display looks incredible in almost any lighting condition. We’ve made it 33% brighter and with a higher contrast ratio and have added a custom designed durable anti-reflective coating, all without making any sacrifices to the experience when using it with touch, and pen. We focused a lot of attention on making the video calling experience on Microsoft Teams and other apps even better. With Surface Pro 10, we’ve put in a new Ultrawide Studio Camera that is the best front-facing camera that has ever been put into a Windows 2-in-1 or laptop. It’s the first Windows PC with a 114° field of view, captures video in 1440p, and uses AI-powered Windows Studio Effects to ensure that the speaker is in frame and looking their best during video calls. Surface Pro 10 is a Secured-Core PC that delivers the industry-leading security that our business customers need. We’ve added additional layers of security to keep customer and company data safe and secure with Enhanced Sign-in Security on by default and a brand-new NFC reader designed to make secure password-less authentication even easier with NFC security keys like YubiKey 5C NFC.

Meet Surface Laptop 6 for Business

[caption id="attachment_263446" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Surface Laptop 6 for Business Surface Laptop 6 for Business[/caption] Surface Laptop 6 for Business is the ultimate laptop that’s built for business. It is powered by the latest Intel® Core™ Ultra H-Series processors and designed with improved thermal capacity to deliver incredible performance. This allows your team to be their most productive with the least amount of downtime when crunching huge data sets in Excel, creating marketing assets in Adobe Photoshop, or building critical applications in Visual Studio. Consistent with the legacy of Surface, Surface Laptop 6 has an industry-leading typing experience that is designed for quality, and confidence. Every element of the keyboard has been considered to ensure productivity when typing, with nothing to get in the way of self-expression. Also, the new Copilot key on Surface Laptop 6 makes accessing the power of AI even easier, with a quick button press to invoke Copilot in Windows1 to help customers to plan their day, find a document using natural text, analyze a website and more with commercial data protection built in. Choose between 13.5” and 15” PixelSense touchscreen displays that are built for touch to help browse and navigate with ease. These vibrant displays also all come with anti-reflective and adaptive color technology that helps to clearly see the content on the screen in almost any lighting environment and reduces reflections by up to 50%. We’ve designed a new Surface Studio Camera for Surface Laptop 6. The new camera captures 1080p video and uses AI-driven Windows Studio Effects to help everyone look their best on video calls. Windows Studio Effects are enabled by machine learning algorithms that run efficiently on the NPU leaving plenty of power to run other critical apps like Microsoft Teams on the CPU and GPU. In the U.S. and Canada, customers will also be able to choose options on the 15” Surface Laptop 6 that include an integrated smart card reader. This helps customers in highly secure industries like government agencies and financial services login without a password simply by inserting their smart card.

Advances in accessibility, sustainability, security and modern tools for IT

In addition to the new products, there are advances in accessibility, sustainability, security and IT tools that will help our customers to empower all of their employees, advance their sustainability efforts, further secure their critical data and manage their devices over their life cycle. Our Designed for Surface accessory partners are proud to offer a range of accessories specifically created to enhance the Surface experience in various commercial and industry scenarios. Our collection spans the Surface portfolio and includes everything from protective cases to mobile-kiosking retail solutions. One  example is  the ViewSonic ColorPro 4K Monitor, which offers Pantone Validation, stunning 4K Ultra HD resolution and calibrated color accuracy – making it a great option for Surface Laptop 6 customers.  Our commitment is to ensure that your team can deploy Surface in any way and place you need.

Accessibility

Accessibility is core to Surface design and to Microsoft’s mission to enable every person and every organization to achieve more. Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 for Business bring the power of AI to accessibility, bringing together the latest hardware innovations from Surface with the software experiences designed to make it possible to use your device in the ways most natural to you. We’ve made it even easier to turn on accessibility features through Copilot in Windows1. Ask Copilot to “turn on live captions” or “turn on the magnifier” without having to navigate to settings in Windows. Live captions3 are now even better on these new products as the processing for this feature is offloaded to the NPU so the system operates with greater efficiency, freeing up the CPU and GPU to run other demanding applications. [caption id="attachment_263447" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Surface Pro Keyboard with bold keyset Surface Pro Keyboard with bold keyset[/caption] We’re also launching the first ever Surface Pro Keyboard with bold keyset5, featuring a bold font change and brighter backlighting, making it easier to read and reducing eye strain for everyone. And finally, we’re very excited to launch our Microsoft Adaptive Accessories to commercial customers, empowering anyone with difficulty using a traditional mouse and keyboard to create their ideal setup, increase productivity, and use their favorite apps more effectively. [caption id="attachment_263448" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Microsoft Adaptive Accessories Microsoft Adaptive Accessories[/caption] All of these innovations in accessibility have been created to match the elegant design of our products and empower more people to be productive and efficient in the way that works best for them.

Sustainability

In 2020, Microsoft committed to becoming carbon negative, water positive and zero waste by 2030. This commitment means that we are constantly working to advance the sustainability of our products, and we know that many of our customers are also pursuing their own ambitious sustainability goals. Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 contain the most recycled content that we’ve ever put into our PCs with the Surface Laptop 6 enclosure being made with a minimum of 25.8% recycled content and the enclosure on Surface Pro 10 being made with a minimum of 72% recycled content6. Both devices are even easier to service and repair with built-in QR codes that provide convenient access to service guides. In Surface Pro 10 we've also included internal markings that identify the number of screws and driver types needed for key components. This increased device repairability can offer significant carbon emissions and waste reduction benefits7. We are also making trade-in more convenient and secure for our commercial customers in the U.S. to help limit device waste.

Security

Security is of critical importance to our customers, and we design devices with Zero Trust security principles to help keep their most sensitive data safe and protect all the way down to the firmware level. Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 for Business have the highest-level security features and protections available in the ecosystem, are certified Secured-Core PCs, and have Enhanced Sign-In Security (ESS) on by default. We’ve made updates to the hardware itself with an optional smart card reader on Surface Laptop 6 and new NFC reader on Surface Pro 10. These new features combined with chip-to-cloud security deliver the ultimate in authentication and protection.

Modern tools for IT

At Surface we think about the entire lifecycle of the device, and how we can make customers’ lives easier. Today we are excited to introduce innovation from Surface and Intune to create the most modern and comprehensive solution for IT. The Surface Management Portal delivers insights-based monitoring to bring value and efficiency to device management. Customers can also track the estimated sustainability improvements of their devices right in the management portal. Platform level improvements

Each product brings unique value and experience to customers, but across all business environments security, manageability, repairability and support are critical to bring peace of mind to IT professionals. Surface with Microsoft is committed to bringing best-in-class solutions across each of these areas.

Chip-to-cloud security

Protected by Microsoft, Surface devices combined with Microsoft 365 have multiple layers of security built-in. With industry-leading security features and remote device management that extends from firmware to cloud – find peace of mind and do more with less. We build secure products from the ground up, and Microsoft manages and controls the entire ecosystem, ensuring everything works together to keep data safe and secure, all while giving customers full autonomy over their data and devices. When you choose Surface, you invest in a product where every component, down to each bit of code, undergoes meticulous verification. Proactively block threats with security that's always up-to-date, down to the boot and firmware level. Quickly respond to global threats and get automatic updates at scale with Microsoft 365 Defender. An example of this has resulted in a new security innovation in Surface Laptop Studio 2 to support customers operating in highly secure work environments to prevent USB theft of confidential data and provide more control to organizations. When paired with the Surface Thunderbolt 4 Dock[1], IT admins can use certificate-based security to lock down USB-C or USB-A ports whenever Surface Laptop Studio 2 is undocked or connected to an unauthorized dock. This means that when your users are connected to an authorized dock in the office, they'll have access to the full functionality of their devices. However, when they go off-site, they can still connect to a dock to use accessories or a monitor but cannot use the USB ports to transfer data. To learn more, see Surface documentation. Expect to see this experience rolled out to more devices in the future.

Management and deployment

https://youtu.be/Po77DqCMvLc The full value of buying a Surface is recognized when you fully leverage Microsoft 365[6]. This means deploying with Autopilot, managing with Intune and Securing with the Microsoft Defender suite. Autopilot enables streamlined and secure deployment without having to go through multiple device interception points. Whether you're deploying devices to your central HQ, remote branch offices or dedicated remote workers, the advantages of embracing Autopilot and Modern Management become evident in the face of software or OS challenges. Imagine the ability to troubleshoot, reprovision, fix or even reimage a device remotely without the need for hands-on intervention from a technician or the logistical challenges of sending the device back. These capabilities help ensure that your end-users remain productive and that business continuity is preserved. We're excited to bring more value to Intune with the Surface Management Portal (SMP), providing a central location to evaluate and manage your fleet of Surface devices. When a hardware issue arises, you can create a ticket from within the portal, describe how you want to repair the machine, and return your IT Admin and end user to productivity faster. Over the past year, our customers have consistently called out the SMP as contributing to their decision to invest in Surface. By delivering a single pane of glass for your device management needs, the SMP continues to help customers lower their total cost of ownership, and we're continuing to roll out more customer-requested features in the months ahead, to bring even more value to IT pros.

Delivering value over time

Our work doesn't stop once we launch a device. We continuously work to deliver updates that make it easier for organizations to secure, manage and deploy devices.

Surface Pro 9 with 5G and Windows on Arm devices

While today’s refresh was focused on four new products, we continue to invest in all of our products including those built on the Arm platform, like Surface Pro 9 with 5G. Recently, we announced updates that help business customers deploy eSIM cellular profiles at scale through Intune, and we've also shared that customers using Arm devices can have even more control over their sensitive data through Endpoint Data Loss Prevention (Endpoint DLP). In Spring 2024, we will also create the ability for customers to build and reimage their Arm devices using Configuration Manager OS Deployment and for the first time we'll release much-requested MSI Driver Packages. Although we recommend Windows Autopilot as the ideal way to manage Arm devices, we are committed to meeting customer needs and know it may not be suitable for environments with a mix of device types, architectures, operating systems or connectivity challenges.

Six-year commitment to software and firmware support

We strive to provide long-lasting value to our Surface customers through capabilities across hardware and software. Today, we are excited to take this even one step further and announce we’ll be extending driver and firmware support to six years after general availability[7], delivering consistency for IT admins across device lifecycle management. Across the Surface portfolio from Surface Go to Surface Hub, Surface is more than a device – it is a strategic enabler for businesses, a tool to help people work, collaborate, learn. We believe we are uniquely positioned to build holistic solutions that bring together hardware, software and AI-enabled experiences to address the challenges our customers face today and in the future.
