And your progression syncs across all those platforms. At this year’s Game Developers Conference, Xbox Wire talked with a few teams at the ID@Xbox Showcase event about what influenced their decision to implement the XPA feature and what benefits it may hold for their gaming communities. “I mean, I think for us it’s all about discovery,” says Detective Dotson Director Sharlin Shodhan. “Making a game is hard enough, but selling a game in 2025 is super hard. Master Chief from the Halo series At Xbox, they’re listening to players, game developers, content creators and streamers. And based on that feedback, Phil Spencer, executive vice president of Gaming at Microsoft, has laid out a road map to the future of gaming and Xbox in a new blog post. “We’re building a future where you and your friends can play the deepest, most immersive and interactive games ever created across your Xbox console, PC and mobile devices,” he writes. Commitments include new technology to reduce hate speech and toxicity and empowering creators of diverse backgrounds to develop new stories. With Xbox Series X, all games will look and play best on the newest console – whether they come from Xbox Game Studios or publisher and developer partners. If you have or are considering Xbox Game Pass, note that all Xbox Game Studios titles will launch the same day as their global release. And all Xbox Game Studios titles that will be released in the next few years—such as Halo Infinite—will be available on Xbox Series X and Xbox One. Xbox Series X will also be the first console ever to launch with four generations of compatibility on day one. With the new Smart Delivery technology, you don’t need to buy the same game twice – once for the current console generation and once for the next generation. You always have the best available version of supported games on whatever Xbox console you are playing on, at no additional cost. Xbox Play Anywhere digital titles also enable you to buy once and play on both Xbox consoles and Windows 10 PCs. “It’s a future in which you get more value from your games. State of Decay 2 is the ultimate zombie survival fantasy, where it’s up to you to decide how to survive in an open, post-apocalyptic world. State of Decay 2 takes everything you loved about the first game and greatly expands on it – giving you more unique survivor characters, more backstories and skills for each member, more community and base management options, and bigger maps to survive in. State of Decay 2 also adds one of the most requested features from the community: cross-platform co-op. You and up to three of your friends can survive together on Xbox One or Windows 10 PC and help develop one player’s community, and then everyone returns to their games with extra supplies and loot after playing co-op. As an Xbox Play Anywhere title, you’ll get both versions with one digital purchase and be able to switch seamlessly between them, as all game progress, Gamerscore and Achievements are saved on and accessible through Xbox Live. The Standard Edition of State of Decay 2 is available to Xbox Game Pass members ($9.99 monthly subscription) starting today.
